  • David Henrie is Director of Code Blue

David Henrie is Director of Code Blue

    FP_IMAGE_4402213/FP_SET_4400557

David Henrie is now the Director of Code Blue Youth Resuscitators (CBYR/Code Blue). Here’s a message from the Wizards of Waverly Place star:

I am so proud and humbled to recently be named the Director of Code Blue Youth Resuscitators (CBYR/Code Blue). What inspired me about Code Blue? It was the active involvement of Jermaine Crawford, who has been working to solve the problem of teenage homelessness, that plagues millions of our Nation’s children; our future generation.

One of my main goals will be to bring as much national attention and awareness of ‘Teen Homelessness’ to other Teens as possible. One of the benefits of my success is the involvement I’ve had with many charitable causes, and I couldn’t help but take note of the tremendous philanthropic and charitable efforts by young people in general… kids really do care and give their time. I want to empower teens to help their peers and bring an end to this tragic dilemma in our great country.

I know how important family and a solid support system can be to young people. I have been blessed to have an amazing family that has always been there for me, in good or bad situations, to provide whatever support I needed. Another one of my goals will be to create local support systems and environment tailored to Homeless Teen desires and needs. A place where they can feel safe and know there are people who care about their potential and desires.

As stated earlier, bringing National Awareness to this problem is critical and that will be my initial focus; making people aware of the problem, and then joining forces to solve the problem. As an artist who has been in the business of telling stories with my acting/writing/directing, I know what the impact of an undeniable story can have on an audience. During this first year with Code Blue, I plan to write and direct a compelling short film, which will raise public awareness to the highest possible level, by revealing what Homeless Teens must endure just to survive day-by-day. This short film

, I fervently hope, will inspire the viewer to join the cause to end Teen Homelessness, to revive a generation, our future generation.

    Sincerely,
    David Henrie -

  • David Henrie Next in Line for ‘Spider-Man’ Throne?

    January 30, 2010

David Henrie Next in Line for ‘Spider-Man’ Throne?

David Henrie Jan. 21As Tobey Maguire steps down from the Spider-Man plate, Disney star David Henrie talks to OK! about the buzzing rumors that he is next in line to take on the action-packed role in its’ fourth installment to date.

“I am very blessed that the rumor is even going around and I am very happy about it!  That would be a dream role for me,” The Wizards of Waverly Place star reveals to OK! at the premiere of Legion on Thursday.

And while, “nothing is official yet,” David reveals that there is a possibility studio execs have been looking into him taking over the web-spewing part.

“I think a month ago I saw something pop up on Google Alerts that said, ‘David Henrie Might be the Next Spider-Man’ and it’s been spreading around ever since,” the 20-year-old gushes to OK! in Hollywood, “I am just happy to read it.”

But jumping into such an acclaimed leading role isn’t easy as David realizes that it will take a lot of work to fill Tobey’s shoes.

“I love Tobey and I have been watching him forever so I would do whatever it takes to follow him in the role.”

The only thing this young actor won’t be stressing over is his already svelte physique as David explains, “Well I have been involved in martial arts for my whole life and I am very acrobatic, active, and athletic so I would continue to do a lot more of what I have been doing with mixed martial arts,” to prepare for Spider-Man if the opportunity presents itself.

In the meantime, the single man, who works alongside Selena Gomez, has romance to ponder while he waits to hear back on Spider-Man as Valentine’s Day lingers in the air.

“Step one is to find a valentine!  Step two is to figure out how to impress the hell out of her.  If you make something it’s more special.  I consider myself a creative guy,” David tells OK!.

David Henrie is latest to be linked to new Spider-Man role

David Henrie.jpgFOLLOWING the announcement of a reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, speculation moved swiftly to who would play the next incarnation of Peter Parker and his arachnid alter-ego.

Names mentioned predictably included Robert Pattinson, Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Cera, Taylor Lautner (who reportedly has met with the studio, though for which role is not known), Zac Efron and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who previously worked with new director Marc Webb in (500) Days of Summer), while Weeds star Hunter Parrish says he'd love the role.

However, as I reported earlier, the next film will see Peter Parker back in school and will have a cast of relative unknowns. 'Unknowns' means we are unlikely to see Twilight's Pattinson swinging from skyscrapers in red and blue spandex any time soon.

The latest name to be thrown into the rumour pot is David Henrie. Whether he is among the 'unknowns' isn't clear, but I'd never heard of him before.

A quick look at his credits shows the 20-year-old has had various TV roles in American shows, most recently in Wizards of Waverly Place and in How I Met Your Mother. So what does he have to say about all the Spider-speculation?

OK! magazine had the chance to speak with Henrie at the premiere of Legion and he said: "I am very blessed that the rumour is even going around and I am very happy about it! That would be a dream role for me.

"I think a month ago I saw something pop up on Google Alerts that said 'David Henrie Might be the next Spider-Man' and it's been spreading around ever since. I am just happy to read it.

"I love Tobey and I have been watching him forever so I would do whatever it takes to follow him in the role."

As for preparing for such a part, Henrie is already in great shape and adds: "Well I have been involved in martial arts for my whole life and I am very acrobatic, active, and athletic so I would continue to do a lot more of what I have been doing with mixed martial arts."

    Spider-Man RE-Boot Ideas

    My Ideas For A Spider-Man RE-Boot

Well, I want to have at least a 6 film series.I want the name of the films to be monikers of Spider-Man(e.g The Amazing Spiderman,Spectacular Spiderman,ect.).I would split the films in half with a mostly different cast to show how the charecters as adults.
I would want the first 3 films to focus on Peter from A Junior in High School to His First Year in College. And for the Villians I would like Norman Osborn to act behind the scenes, making all the villians that are suddenly springing up(Like Ultimate Justin Hammer),and would finnaly appear as the Green Goblin in the 3rd film, and Kill Gwen.Mostly for the first 3 films I would Blend The Spectacular Spidey cartoon with Ultimate Spidey since theres not that much info on spidey in HS.
    Now ON TO THE CASTING!

UPDATE:In light of the News of the RE-Boot I reposted this article and I added some new picks.

    Amazing Spider-Man First Film cast:

David Henrie as Young Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

-Yeah I know he's from Disney but he has been in House,How I Met your Mother,Cold Case, and Grey's Anatomy. And from whaat I have seen on Disney (He's on Wizards of Waverely Place and That's So Raven)He's pretty funny and on Wizards he plays a geek who's a spaz so it wont be that hard to play Peter.

  • Robert Pattinson As Spider-Man? We're Not Sold.

Robert Pattinson As Spider-Man? We're Not Sold.

With Sony's recent announcement that the new Spider-Man film would be moving forward without Tobey Maguire, many are wondering who will play Spidey in the fourth installment of the series. If we believe the rumors, Robert Pattinson is in talks to play the Marvel Comics character, but would he really be a good fit?

According to Sony reps, Spider-Man 4 will follow Peter Parker in his teenage years. The future hero is still in high school and "dealing with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises."

Well, the British actor has certainly mastered those by playing Edward Cullen! Rob can also pass as a high schooler -- he's aced the forever-young vampire thing -- and the American accent is no obstacle, but we're still not sold on RPatz as a young Spidey. Also, the movie is slated for a Summer 2012 release, so we're wondering if Rob could even fit another blockbuster into his busy Twilight filming and promotion schedule.

Who else could be a contender for the iconic role? The rumor mill has named Michael Cera as a possibility, but what about other celebs like Lucas Till or David Henrie? You tell us...

Who will wear SPIDER-MAN's suit? Seven names might make Marc Webb's senses tingle

Thanks a lot, Sony and Marvel. By confirming Tuesday that Marc Webb has gotten the call to direct "Spider-Man 4," you've sentenced the Peter Parker populace to at least 18 months of dreadful, painful punning.

That said, by your tabbing the filmmaker of "(500) Days of Summer," at least we've got Sam Raimi's replacement in place for the franchise's reboot to high school. Which means we can turn our full attention to the question: Who will inherit the Spidey suit from Tobey Maguire?

tobeyspidey.jpg Even Tobey Maguire has to wonder who will step into his Spider suit. (Merrick Morton / Columbia Pictures)

So let's see: Right off the bat, we can cross off such young Hollywood commodities as Shia LaBeouf and Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera and "Star Trek's" Anton Yelchin. For them, for various reasons, just not gonna happen. And the "Twilight" twins Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson? No chance.

Sure, Sony and Marvel could go with an unknown, but it worked so well nearly a decade ago when "Spider-Man" went with a known actor who already had such successes as "Pleasantville" under his slim belt. So for our purposes, we'll stick with seven known quantities. And they are:

  • Platinum Studios Secures $5 Million Financing Commitment

    January 22, 2010

Platinum Studios Secures $5 Million Financing Commitment

Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, announced today that it has entered into an Investment Agreement for a $5,000,000 equity line of credit with Dutchess Opportunity Fund II, LP.

"The completion of this facility, with an established financing partner such as Dutchess, is a clear indication of investor optimism returning to the capital markets and has provided valuable resources Platinum Studios may need to facilitate its business model," said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Platinum Studios CEO.

During the 36-month term of the Agreement, the Company has the option to sell shares of its common stock to Dutchess issued under the equity line, at per share prices to be determined based on market prices in accordance with an agreed-upon formula. Platinum Studios will control the timing and amount of any sales of shares sold to Dutchess.

"We believe that Platinum Studios represents a compelling investment for our fund considering the Company owns one of the few remaining independent multi-universe comic book character libraries. The announcement last summer of Disney's $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment was the latest step in the consolidation of these collections into major studios. With the emergence of comic book-based entertainment as the cornerstone of major entertainment franchises around the world, we are excited to participate in the Company's growth," stated Jessica Geran, Director of Corporate Finance at Dutchess.

Douglas Leighton, Managing Director of Dutchess, stated, "We believe in management's efforts to grow the company and this facility provides inexpensive and flexible access capital. Regardless of the ever-tightening capital markets, Dutchess continues to finance the growth of promising companies such as Platinum Studios."

Awareness for Platinum Studios' properties has increased significantly over the past year due in part to the upcoming film "Dead of Night," an adaptation of the beloved Italian comic book "Dylan Dog," which has sold over 56 million copies worldwide. In a poll conducted in December 2009 by MTV.com, "Dead of Night" ranked fifth amongst all comic book movies audiences were anticipating for 2010. The results came unexpectedly to MTV.com since the film was accidentally left off the list of nominees and all votes for the picture were write-in votes.

In addition to "Dead of Night," Platinum Studios' graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens" is anticipated by DreamWorks for a mid-2010 start, with Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Platinum producing. In addition to these active, high-profile projects, Platinum is also developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures; "The Witchblade" with "Wanted" executive producer Marc Silvestri and Top Cow Productions, Inc.; "Atlantis Rising" with DreamWorks, Kurtzman/Orci and director Len Wiseman ("Underworld"); "The Weapon" with Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" star David Henrie; "Mal Chance" with producer Tony Krantz ("24"); "Indestructible Man" and "Gunplay" at FOX 21; "Nightfall" with Aurora Productions and an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation. Platinum's Rosenberg would serve as a producer on all film projects and an executive producer on all TV projects.

  • Disney's David Henrie Is 'The Weapon' For Platinum Studios

    January 22, 2010

Disney's David Henrie Is 'The Weapon' For Platinum Studios

I never feel older or more out of touch than when I read or write about one of Disney's fresh faced stars. Every time I shrug it off as a "I really don't know who that is," they end up being the next Shia LaBeouf or something. So, in the interests of keeping up and in pleasing our young readers, here's a story about The Wizards of Waverly Place's David Henrie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henrie has decided to take the first step to becoming, well, Shia LaBeouf, by starring in Platinum Studios' The Weapon.

Based on the four-issue comic book, The Weapon stars Tommy Zhou, a martial arts weapon enthusiast by day, a brilliant inventor the rest of the time. He designs a wrist band that creates "an endless variety of weapons from solid holograms." I can't imagine why Zhou thinks this is a good idea, or why he's surprised when evil henchman come after it. Naturally, it isn't just any evil military-industrial complex, but an order of assassins who believe he's stumbled on the lost techniques of the Order of Wu-Shi, "the way of the Weapon." Henrie fans can find the comic at Platinum Studios' store and hopefully be inspired to pick up a few other comics after they read it.

I can't let the story pass without one critical note, and that's the blatant disregard for the character's Asian descent. While Henrie is confident that his Disney fans will still love "the empowerment and action-filled journey my character experiences" and stresses that he's studied mixed martial arts, it's a shame Platinum had chosen to empower a young Chinese-American actor instead. That's no slam on Henrie (what young man doesn't dream of being in an action flick?) but a troubling decision on the part of the studio.

    David Henrie Writes For Wizards

Did you know that David Henrie has his own production company? Mm-hm!

The Wizards hottie is already writing and producing at age 20! But unlike other celebs, he might actually do more than just lend his name to the thing. In fact, David has already branched out of his "actor" role on the Disney set. “I wrote my own episode, and we shot that a couple of weeks ago. That was pretty big for me," David said. But will we actually see it on TV? "They haven’t set a release date, but I would imagine it will air in the next month or two. I know they’re almost done editing it right now.

”We're pretty impressed. But what plans does he have for this production company? "I’m going to be writing and producing feature films. And there’s a new media side to that production company. I’m currently developing a Web series that I’m either going to star in or hire people to star in, and I’m going to be running the show almost." Ok, so we're really, really impressed. It's not everyday you see a teen actor take such initiative instead of riding the wave of success and milking it for all it's worth.

David wants to do it all: “I want to act, I want to direct, I want to write. I want to be like a Vince Vaughn or a (Steven) Spielberg.” He's got the aspirations down. Clearly. But will his dreams materialize? Check back with DailyFill, and we'll hook you up with all the latest David Henrie gossip. David in new web series ‘Easy to Assemble: Flying Solo’

Easy to Assemble - Flying SoloIlleana Douglas is flying high lately. The comedy web series in which she both created and stars, Easy to Assemble has been picking up steam this winter. It’s become not just a popular success—over 5 million views so far—but also a business one, with Madison Avenue trade Advertising Age calling it the “most-watched sponsored web show” in a recent in-depth feature in the magazine.

The success hasn’t gone unnoticed by the show’s main sponsor IKEA, which opted to fund an additional four episodes, extending the season beyond its initial ten. The new episodes, which they are calling a miniseries in its own right dubbed “Flying Solo” premieres Jan. 20 on MyDamnChannel.com, and the trailer was just released online (above). In the episodes, viewers will finally find out who won the season’s Co-Worker of the Year contest between Douglas and Justine Bateman.

Michael Kang, who had worked with Illeana before on a film, was asked to direct the four bonus episodes. Young celebs like Disney Channel star David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Korean star Sung Kang (Ninja Assassin) were tapped to broaden the show’s appeal.

Tim Meadows and David HenrieDoing some embedded journalism, I spent at day on the Easy to Assemble set last month as they were shooting the bonus episodes on a mock airplane set inside a drafty North Hollywood warehouse. I was joined by a few other new media folks, all of us doing some unpaid extra work filling out the few rows of seats behind the main action. And it was there that we really got a sense of the alchemy of improv that happens only when putting talent like SNL vet Tim Meadows together with a young comedian like Henrie and letting them play.

Eric Lange, who plays the jovial IKEA branch manager, seamlessly dropped into a Swedish accent—from his Ohio standard—without missing a breath. And the low frills set—no trailers, and a shared bathroom that eventually gave out by day’s end—gave it a clear sense that the cast and crew were doing this for something other than the paychecks.

More recently, I had a chance to sit down with Illeana at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this past weekend after she spoke on a panel on new media creators and the creative convergence. On the panel, which was attended by about 200 conference goers, she spoke of how she pays her actors and crew about three times what other funded web series do, using the term “conscious capitalism” to characterize her philosophy, and that of IKEA, on the production.  See our impromptu interview below, making the best of the only quiet space we could find from the throngs of CES attendees.

Developing feature based on comic book series

David Henrie of the Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place" will pair with Platinum Studios to develop its comic book series, "The Weapon," into a feature film he'd star in.

"Weapon" follows martial arts enthusiast and inventor Tommy Zhou, who has developed a ground-breaking portable innovation that an evil order will stop at nothing to steal. Released in 2007, "Weapon" was created by Platinum chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.

"'The Weapon' is so awesome, and my Disney audience will enjoy the empowerment and action-filled journey my character experiences," Henrie said. "I'm a huge fan and student of MMA (mixed martial arts), and I hope to bring that to the character of Tommy."

David Talks to MTV News about "Wizards of Waverly Place"

David tells MTV News that people can expect "lots of crazy cool stuff--big wizard battles" from the TV movie based on his show "Wizards of Waverly Place," which is shooting in Puerto Rico. "We are going to be in the tropical forest, so [there's] lots of adventure. The premise is we win a trip and go on vacation."

David also dished that despite his co-star Selena Gomez being a huge star, there are no egos on-set. "It's a lot different than most people's working environments. We're so much closer than a lot of other casts. There's always a tension--it's not there with us. We've created an environment that has created a success."

David Henrie's Just Jared Jr. Interview: Part 1

Just Jared Jr. caught up with David Henrie to talk about Twittering, his tattoos, religion, filming the "Wizards of Waverly Place" movie in Puerto Rico, his celebrity crushes, and more! He tells JJJ that contrary to recent popular belief, he doesn't have his tongue pierced, though he does have three tattoos (an angel on his shoulder that says "Familia" in the middle, and a Scripture verse on each of his arms). He also confides that he would "probably die" if he met Megan Fox, and that if he could emulate anyone's career, it would be Shia LeBeouf's. He describes a normal day of filming "Wizards" and admits that he's usually doing something funny in the background on set, like making two props (that happen to be fish) argue with each other.

Los Angeles Times - My Favorite Weekend

On the eve of his 18th birthday, David shares his Favorite Weekend plans with the Los Angeles Times.

Friday night: He loves going to a movie with friends and then to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner (his favorite dish is Chinese Chicken Salad). Too long a line? His second choice is PF Changs. If the wait there is too long, then he settles on Fuddruckers.

Saturday is the same group from the night before, hanging out at Zuma Beach with a football or soccer ball. Later he may shop at the Beverly Center or on Melrose. Dinner is sushi in Studio City.

If he has relatives in town, he’ll take them to Universal Studios on Sunday. On the way home, they’ll stop by Menchie’s for frozen yogurt.  “It’s got more flavors than Pinkberry!”

He’s been working ever since. He’s also getting recognized more: He recently brought his cousin to a Hannah Montana concert, where one of the fans recognized him as Justin on “Wizards of Waverly Place.” He signed an autograph, and then signed another, and another… “I had to be escorted out of the arena by ten bodyguards! It was crazy.”

He and his cousin then went backstage to hang out with Miley Cyrus,  who took a picture with his cousin. David is no stranger to celebrity. “I’m good friend with the Jonas brothers,” he says. “They’re all really cool guys.”
