Disney Channel Renews “Wizards of Waverly Place” for a Fourth Season; Plans Second Movie

THE MAGIC CONTINUES AS DISNEY CHANNEL ORDERS FOURTH SEASON

OF EMMY AWARD-WINNING SERIES “WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE”

Development Also Begins on Sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,”

Cable TV’s #2 Scripted Telecast of All Time

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of its Emmy Award-winning sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and is in development on the sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” cable TV’s second-highest rated scripted telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), Kids 6-11 and Tweens. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production on the fourth season is scheduled to begin in August with show runners Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio (“Married…with Children,” “Greetings from Tucson”) executive-producing. Todd J. Greenwald (“Hannah Montana,” “Saved By the Bell: The New Class”) is the series creator and also an executive producer.

The script for the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel will be written by Dan Berendsen (Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam”).

In making the announcement, Marsh said, “The Emmy win this past year confirmed what we already believed — this is a cast of superstar comedic talent, backed by an inspired team of writers and producers.”

The series stars Selena Gomez (whose debut album, “Kiss & Tell,” from Hollywood Records, debuted in the Billboard Top 10 and has since become gold-certified), David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise. In Season Four, Disney Channel UK star Gregg Sulkin (“As the Bell Rings” and Disney Channel’s upcoming movie, “Avalon High”) reprises his recurring guest role.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” debuted in 2007 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program in 2009. A proven fan favorite, the sitcom has been lauded for its portrayal of Latinos and has won Alma, Imagen and NAACP Image Award nominations.

Set in New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, the series follows the Russo family — siblings Alex, Max and older brother Justin, each a wizard in training, and competing with each other to determine who among them will get to keep their powers forever. They live with their Italian-American father, Jerry (who was once a wizard), and their Mexican-American mother, Theresa, a mortal (who prefers that magic not be used in the house). Alex’s best friend, Harper Finkle, is the only friend who knows the Russo kids have magical powers.

New episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place” air FRIDAYS (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. A production of It’s a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel, the series carries a TV-G parental guideline.

JJJ caught up with the 20-year-old actor and chatted about a special upcoming episode of Wizards of Waverly Place — the one he wrote!

David shared with us, “It was an awesome process. I’ve wanted to write for the longest time…I’ve always been writing on the side since I’ve been an actor, like skits and webseries. I got to sit in the writer’s room for eight weeks. I would go rehearse and then go sit with the writers; pitching stories and jokes. Then I got my episode called ‘Alex’s Logo.’”

He continued, “I was the youngest writer in the room so I got to throw my 20-year-old perspective in the script. There’s a lot of things that kids will be able to relate to. I got to put some fun things in there like ‘the Jerk’ type of things. It was an amazing time.”

David Henrie is now the Director of Code Blue Youth Resuscitators (CBYR/Code Blue). Here’s a message from the Wizards of Waverly Place star:

I am so proud and humbled to recently be named the Director of Code Blue Youth Resuscitators (CBYR/Code Blue). What inspired me about Code Blue? It was the active involvement of Jermaine Crawford, who has been working to solve the problem of teenage homelessness, that plagues millions of our Nation’s children; our future generation.

One of my main goals will be to bring as much national attention and awareness of ‘Teen Homelessness’ to other Teens as possible. One of the benefits of my success is the involvement I’ve had with many charitable causes, and I couldn’t help but take note of the tremendous philanthropic and charitable efforts by young people in general… kids really do care and give their time. I want to empower teens to help their peers and bring an end to this tragic dilemma in our great country.

I know how important family and a solid support system can be to young people. I have been blessed to have an amazing family that has always been there for me, in good or bad situations, to provide whatever support I needed. Another one of my goals will be to create local support systems and environment tailored to Homeless Teen desires and needs. A place where they can feel safe and know there are people who care about their potential and desires.

As stated earlier, bringing National Awareness to this problem is critical and that will be my initial focus; making people aware of the problem, and then joining forces to solve the problem. As an artist who has been in the business of telling stories with my acting/writing/directing, I know what the impact of an undeniable story can have on an audience. During this first year with Code Blue, I plan to write and direct a compelling short film, which will raise public awareness to the highest possible level, by revealing what Homeless Teens must endure just to survive day-by-day. This short film

, I fervently hope, will inspire the viewer to join the cause to end Teen Homelessness, to revive a generation, our future generation.

    Sincerely,
    David Henrie -

  • David Henrie Next in Line for ‘Spider-Man’ Throne?

David Henrie Next in Line for ‘Spider-Man’ Throne?

David Henrie Jan. 21As Tobey Maguire steps down from the Spider-Man plate, Disney star David Henrie talks to OK! about the buzzing rumors that he is next in line to take on the action-packed role in its’ fourth installment to date.

“I am very blessed that the rumor is even going around and I am very happy about it!  That would be a dream role for me,” The Wizards of Waverly Place star reveals to OK! at the premiere of Legion on Thursday.

And while, “nothing is official yet,” David reveals that there is a possibility studio execs have been looking into him taking over the web-spewing part.

“I think a month ago I saw something pop up on Google Alerts that said, ‘David Henrie Might be the Next Spider-Man’ and it’s been spreading around ever since,” the 20-year-old gushes to OK! in Hollywood, “I am just happy to read it.”

But jumping into such an acclaimed leading role isn’t easy as David realizes that it will take a lot of work to fill Tobey’s shoes.

“I love Tobey and I have been watching him forever so I would do whatever it takes to follow him in the role.”

The only thing this young actor won’t be stressing over is his already svelte physique as David explains, “Well I have been involved in martial arts for my whole life and I am very acrobatic, active, and athletic so I would continue to do a lot more of what I have been doing with mixed martial arts,” to prepare for Spider-Man if the opportunity presents itself.

In the meantime, the single man, who works alongside Selena Gomez, has romance to ponder while he waits to hear back on Spider-Man as Valentine’s Day lingers in the air.

“Step one is to find a valentine!  Step two is to figure out how to impress the hell out of her.  If you make something it’s more special.  I consider myself a creative guy,” David tells OK!.

David Henrie is latest to be linked to new Spider-Man role

David Henrie.jpgFOLLOWING the announcement of a reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, speculation moved swiftly to who would play the next incarnation of Peter Parker and his arachnid alter-ego.

Names mentioned predictably included Robert Pattinson, Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Cera, Taylor Lautner (who reportedly has met with the studio, though for which role is not known), Zac Efron and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who previously worked with new director Marc Webb in (500) Days of Summer), while Weeds star Hunter Parrish says he'd love the role.

However, as I reported earlier, the next film will see Peter Parker back in school and will have a cast of relative unknowns. 'Unknowns' means we are unlikely to see Twilight's Pattinson swinging from skyscrapers in red and blue spandex any time soon.

The latest name to be thrown into the rumour pot is David Henrie. Whether he is among the 'unknowns' isn't clear, but I'd never heard of him before.

A quick look at his credits shows the 20-year-old has had various TV roles in American shows, most recently in Wizards of Waverly Place and in How I Met Your Mother. So what does he have to say about all the Spider-speculation?

OK! magazine had the chance to speak with Henrie at the premiere of Legion and he said: "I am very blessed that the rumour is even going around and I am very happy about it! That would be a dream role for me.

"I think a month ago I saw something pop up on Google Alerts that said 'David Henrie Might be the next Spider-Man' and it's been spreading around ever since. I am just happy to read it.

"I love Tobey and I have been watching him forever so I would do whatever it takes to follow him in the role."

As for preparing for such a part, Henrie is already in great shape and adds: "Well I have been involved in martial arts for my whole life and I am very acrobatic, active, and athletic so I would continue to do a lot more of what I have been doing with mixed martial arts."

    Spider-Man RE-Boot Ideas

    My Ideas For A Spider-Man RE-Boot

Well, I want to have at least a 6 film series.I want the name of the films to be monikers of Spider-Man(e.g The Amazing Spiderman,Spectacular Spiderman,ect.).I would split the films in half with a mostly different cast to show how the charecters as adults.
I would want the first 3 films to focus on Peter from A Junior in High School to His First Year in College. And for the Villians I would like Norman Osborn to act behind the scenes, making all the villians that are suddenly springing up(Like Ultimate Justin Hammer),and would finnaly appear as the Green Goblin in the 3rd film, and Kill Gwen.Mostly for the first 3 films I would Blend The Spectacular Spidey cartoon with Ultimate Spidey since theres not that much info on spidey in HS.
    Now ON TO THE CASTING!

UPDATE:In light of the News of the RE-Boot I reposted this article and I added some new picks.

    Amazing Spider-Man First Film cast:

David Henrie as Young Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

-Yeah I know he's from Disney but he has been in House,How I Met your Mother,Cold Case, and Grey's Anatomy. And from whaat I have seen on Disney (He's on Wizards of Waverely Place and That's So Raven)He's pretty funny and on Wizards he plays a geek who's a spaz so it wont be that hard to play Peter.

Robert Pattinson As Spider-Man? We're Not Sold.

With Sony's recent announcement that the new Spider-Man film would be moving forward without Tobey Maguire, many are wondering who will play Spidey in the fourth installment of the series. If we believe the rumors, Robert Pattinson is in talks to play the Marvel Comics character, but would he really be a good fit?

According to Sony reps, Spider-Man 4 will follow Peter Parker in his teenage years. The future hero is still in high school and "dealing with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises."

Well, the British actor has certainly mastered those by playing Edward Cullen! Rob can also pass as a high schooler -- he's aced the forever-young vampire thing -- and the American accent is no obstacle, but we're still not sold on RPatz as a young Spidey. Also, the movie is slated for a Summer 2012 release, so we're wondering if Rob could even fit another blockbuster into his busy Twilight filming and promotion schedule.

Who else could be a contender for the iconic role? The rumor mill has named Michael Cera as a possibility, but what about other celebs like Lucas Till or David Henrie? You tell us...

Who will wear SPIDER-MAN's suit? Seven names might make Marc Webb's senses tingle

Thanks a lot, Sony and Marvel. By confirming Tuesday that Marc Webb has gotten the call to direct "Spider-Man 4," you've sentenced the Peter Parker populace to at least 18 months of dreadful, painful punning.

That said, by your tabbing the filmmaker of "(500) Days of Summer," at least we've got Sam Raimi's replacement in place for the franchise's reboot to high school. Which means we can turn our full attention to the question: Who will inherit the Spidey suit from Tobey Maguire?

tobeyspidey.jpg Even Tobey Maguire has to wonder who will step into his Spider suit. (Merrick Morton / Columbia Pictures)

So let's see: Right off the bat, we can cross off such young Hollywood commodities as Shia LaBeouf and Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera and "Star Trek's" Anton Yelchin. For them, for various reasons, just not gonna happen. And the "Twilight" twins Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson? No chance.

Sure, Sony and Marvel could go with an unknown, but it worked so well nearly a decade ago when "Spider-Man" went with a known actor who already had such successes as "Pleasantville" under his slim belt. So for our purposes, we'll stick with seven known quantities. And they are:

  • Platinum Studios Secures $5 Million Financing Commitment

    January 22, 2010

Platinum Studios Secures $5 Million Financing Commitment

Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB: PDOS), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, announced today that it has entered into an Investment Agreement for a $5,000,000 equity line of credit with Dutchess Opportunity Fund II, LP.

"The completion of this facility, with an established financing partner such as Dutchess, is a clear indication of investor optimism returning to the capital markets and has provided valuable resources Platinum Studios may need to facilitate its business model," said Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Platinum Studios CEO.

During the 36-month term of the Agreement, the Company has the option to sell shares of its common stock to Dutchess issued under the equity line, at per share prices to be determined based on market prices in accordance with an agreed-upon formula. Platinum Studios will control the timing and amount of any sales of shares sold to Dutchess.

"We believe that Platinum Studios represents a compelling investment for our fund considering the Company owns one of the few remaining independent multi-universe comic book character libraries. The announcement last summer of Disney's $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment was the latest step in the consolidation of these collections into major studios. With the emergence of comic book-based entertainment as the cornerstone of major entertainment franchises around the world, we are excited to participate in the Company's growth," stated Jessica Geran, Director of Corporate Finance at Dutchess.

Douglas Leighton, Managing Director of Dutchess, stated, "We believe in management's efforts to grow the company and this facility provides inexpensive and flexible access capital. Regardless of the ever-tightening capital markets, Dutchess continues to finance the growth of promising companies such as Platinum Studios."

Awareness for Platinum Studios' properties has increased significantly over the past year due in part to the upcoming film "Dead of Night," an adaptation of the beloved Italian comic book "Dylan Dog," which has sold over 56 million copies worldwide. In a poll conducted in December 2009 by MTV.com, "Dead of Night" ranked fifth amongst all comic book movies audiences were anticipating for 2010. The results came unexpectedly to MTV.com since the film was accidentally left off the list of nominees and all votes for the picture were write-in votes.

In addition to "Dead of Night," Platinum Studios' graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens" is anticipated by DreamWorks for a mid-2010 start, with Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Platinum producing. In addition to these active, high-profile projects, Platinum is also developing "Unique" with "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman at Walt Disney Pictures; "The Witchblade" with "Wanted" executive producer Marc Silvestri and Top Cow Productions, Inc.; "Atlantis Rising" with DreamWorks, Kurtzman/Orci and director Len Wiseman ("Underworld"); "The Weapon" with Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place" star David Henrie; "Mal Chance" with producer Tony Krantz ("24"); "Indestructible Man" and "Gunplay" at FOX 21; "Nightfall" with Aurora Productions and an untitled feature film project at Sony Pictures Animation. Platinum's Rosenberg would serve as a producer on all film projects and an executive producer on all TV projects.

  • Disney's David Henrie Is 'The Weapon' For Platinum Studios

    January 22, 2010

Disney's David Henrie Is 'The Weapon' For Platinum Studios

I never feel older or more out of touch than when I read or write about one of Disney's fresh faced stars. Every time I shrug it off as a "I really don't know who that is," they end up being the next Shia LaBeouf or something. So, in the interests of keeping up and in pleasing our young readers, here's a story about The Wizards of Waverly Place's David Henrie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henrie has decided to take the first step to becoming, well, Shia LaBeouf, by starring in Platinum Studios' The Weapon.

Based on the four-issue comic book, The Weapon stars Tommy Zhou, a martial arts weapon enthusiast by day, a brilliant inventor the rest of the time. He designs a wrist band that creates "an endless variety of weapons from solid holograms." I can't imagine why Zhou thinks this is a good idea, or why he's surprised when evil henchman come after it. Naturally, it isn't just any evil military-industrial complex, but an order of assassins who believe he's stumbled on the lost techniques of the Order of Wu-Shi, "the way of the Weapon." Henrie fans can find the comic at Platinum Studios' store and hopefully be inspired to pick up a few other comics after they read it.

I can't let the story pass without one critical note, and that's the blatant disregard for the character's Asian descent. While Henrie is confident that his Disney fans will still love "the empowerment and action-filled journey my character experiences" and stresses that he's studied mixed martial arts, it's a shame Platinum had chosen to empower a young Chinese-American actor instead. That's no slam on Henrie (what young man doesn't dream of being in an action flick?) but a troubling decision on the part of the studio.

    David Henrie Writes For Wizards

Did you know that David Henrie has his own production company? Mm-hm!

The Wizards hottie is already writing and producing at age 20! But unlike other celebs, he might actually do more than just lend his name to the thing. In fact, David has already branched out of his "actor" role on the Disney set. “I wrote my own episode, and we shot that a couple of weeks ago. That was pretty big for me," David said. But will we actually see it on TV? "They haven’t set a release date, but I would imagine it will air in the next month or two. I know they’re almost done editing it right now.

”We're pretty impressed. But what plans does he have for this production company? "I’m going to be writing and producing feature films. And there’s a new media side to that production company. I’m currently developing a Web series that I’m either going to star in or hire people to star in, and I’m going to be running the show almost." Ok, so we're really, really impressed. It's not everyday you see a teen actor take such initiative instead of riding the wave of success and milking it for all it's worth.

David wants to do it all: “I want to act, I want to direct, I want to write. I want to be like a Vince Vaughn or a (Steven) Spielberg.” He's got the aspirations down. Clearly. But will his dreams materialize? Check back with DailyFill, and we'll hook you up with all the latest David Henrie gossip. For now, take a look at his company's newest project at www.youtube.com/yutetv.

David in new web series ‘Easy to Assemble: Flying Solo’

Easy to Assemble - Flying SoloIlleana Douglas is flying high lately. The comedy web series in which she both created and stars, Easy to Assemble has been picking up steam this winter. It’s become not just a popular success—over 5 million views so far—but also a business one, with Madison Avenue trade Advertising Age calling it the “most-watched sponsored web show” in a recent in-depth feature in the magazine.

The success hasn’t gone unnoticed by the show’s main sponsor IKEA, which opted to fund an additional four episodes, extending the season beyond its initial ten. The new episodes, which they are calling a miniseries in its own right dubbed “Flying Solo” premieres Jan. 20 on MyDamnChannel.com, and the trailer was just released online (above). In the episodes, viewers will finally find out who won the season’s Co-Worker of the Year contest between Douglas and Justine Bateman.

Michael Kang, who had worked with Illeana before on a film, was asked to direct the four bonus episodes. Young celebs like Disney Channel star David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Korean star Sung Kang (Ninja Assassin) were tapped to broaden the show’s appeal.

Tim Meadows and David HenrieDoing some embedded journalism, I spent at day on the Easy to Assemble set last month as they were shooting the bonus episodes on a mock airplane set inside a drafty North Hollywood warehouse. I was joined by a few other new media folks, all of us doing some unpaid extra work filling out the few rows of seats behind the main action. And it was there that we really got a sense of the alchemy of improv that happens only when putting talent like SNL vet Tim Meadows together with a young comedian like Henrie and letting them play.

Eric Lange, who plays the jovial IKEA branch manager, seamlessly dropped into a Swedish accent—from his Ohio standard—without missing a breath. And the low frills set—no trailers, and a shared bathroom that eventually gave out by day’s end—gave it a clear sense that the cast and crew were doing this for something other than the paychecks.

More recently, I had a chance to sit down with Illeana at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this past weekend after she spoke on a panel on new media creators and the creative convergence. On the panel, which was attended by about 200 conference goers, she spoke of how she pays her actors and crew about three times what other funded web series do, using the term “conscious capitalism” to characterize her philosophy, and that of IKEA, on the production.  See our impromptu interview below, making the best of the only quiet space we could find from the throngs of CES attendees.

David Henrie Interview — JJJ Exclusive!

David Henrie Interview — JJJ Exclusive!

Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie caught up with JJJ to dish on his latest DCOM, Dadnapped.

The 19-year-old actor dished to JustJared.com about Twittering, his favorite on-set props and his Fox-y celebrity crush. Check it:

JJJ: Hi David, are you familiar with JustJared.com?

DH: Of course I’m familiar with your site! Now I know what Miley [Cyrus]’s doing at all times. I go on once a day and I’ll keep tabs on what’s going on, it’s fun. It’s addictive. Selena [Gomez] told me about the site and told me to check it out. So I started looking at it about once a week and then I was like, you know what, I think I’m gonna go again, and then…it gets you. I go on both JustJared.com and JustJaredJr.com, they’re both really fun.

JJJ: There are a lot of negative blogs as well, do you stay away from them? Are you affected by them?

DH: It’s just part of the business. I enjoy what I do and everything that’s a part of it, and that’s all part of it. I’m totally down with all that, there’s going to be negativity no matter what.

JJJ: What is the craziest rumor you’ve read on a blog or a magazine? Has anything on the net ever bothered you?

DH: The other day I was on my IMDB page, and someone wrote that I had my tongue pierced, and someone wrote back agreeing with that. That is definitely not the case, but what can you do? People say all sorts of things, you’ll hear the most random stuff. I have no piercings - I got a few tattoos, but no piercings. I got an angel on my shoulder and it says “familia” in the middle…it’s like an old Italian familia on my shoulder. And on the back of my arms, I have [Scriptural verses] Romans 2:12 on my right and Galatians 22:23 on my left arm.

(Click inside for more of JJJ’s interview with David Henrie…)

JJJ: Do you consider yourself religious? You come from a big Italian family and you have scripture on your body…

DH: I went to Catholic school growing up. You can also look at the religious implications of [the verses], or you could just take the meanings of them, which are to live a positive and healthy life. There are certain standards by which you should live with and you should obey - I look at both meanings. Let’s say I wake up tomorrow and all of a sudden my faith is totally shaken and I forget everything I’ve learned, I would still want to live my life by the meanings of the scripture. I still try to go to church, but it’s more personal to me now. I say my prayers before I go to bed, I ask for my desires, I ask for forgiveness for certain things. So, I’m still definitely religious.

JJJ: Do you have a Facebook, MySpace or Twitter?

DH: I don’t have a Facebook or MySpace. The ones on there right now are all posers. One is being created right now, though. I also just made a Twitter. My name is already taken on it, so mine is David_Henrie, and I’m twittering it up now. It’s fun! I just made it yesterday, and in the first ten minutes I had fifty followers.

JJJ: Tell us about your character Wheeze on Dadnapped?

DH: I play Wheeze. Oh, Wheeze. The movie’s about this book series that a famous author wrote that has a huge following, kind of like a Harry Potter or a James Bond kind of novel, and he throws a convention and the winner gets to hang out with the author. In order to win the convention, I reenact one of the plots in one of his books and I end up kidnapping him. So I’m the bad guy in the beginning, but then he gets kidnapped from me. And there’s a love story line between me and Emily Osment and we try to get him back. It’s fun, I think kids will like it.

JJJ: Do you have any fun stories or fave memories from the set of Dadnapped?

DH: They have a huge mall right next to where we were shooting in Utah, so the cast would go see movies everyday, go hang out with the per diem they gave me, it was a lot of fun.

JJJ: Do you like traveling? And what are five items you have to take with you when you travel?

DH: I love traveling, we’re taking off on Sunday (February 15) to Puerto Rico to go shoot the Wizards movie. As ofr things I have to bring with me — deodorant, clothes, cell phone, computer, and, maybe a book of some sorts? Really, as long as I’ve got my computer, there’s nothing else I really need. You can spend your whole day on the internet, it’s just amazing.

JJJ: How long does it take to film a movie, say Dadnapped and Wizards?

DH: Dadnapped took 4 weeks, Wizards will take 6 weeks. Dadnapped, we cranked out a lot quicker.

JJJ: Have you read the script already? What’s the plot?

DH: The family wins a trip down to some South American place. I’m not sure if they name it in the movie, but we’re filming in Puerto Rico. So there are wizard ruins there, and we go check that out and things go awry like they always do in the wizard world, and my character has to fix them.

JJJ: Will Wizards of Waverly Place continue or end with movie?

DH: This is just a bonus, it’s not coming to an end. We still have the whole third season to do. This is just an in-between, a TV movie.

JJJ: Going back to Dadnapped, how does the love story with you and Emily pan out?

DH: When we filmed the movie, there was a big kiss in the end, but I don’t even know if they will put that in. So there was a kissing scene, it was fun. (laughs) To prepare for that, I was kind of like, “Emily, I know I’m a little older than you, and it’s going to be a little creepy, but it’s going to be fine, right?” So…it was fun, it was good.

JJJ: Do you have any celebrity crushes?

DH: Oh my goodness, yes I do. If I could meet Megan Fox, I would…probably die. I like her a lot! Sophia Bush is gorgeous. There’s a lot. There’s so many beautiful girls out here, it’s hard to keep track of them all.

JJJ: If you could emulate someone’s career, who would it be?

DH: Shia LaBeouf! Shia, 100%. I think because I relate to him the most. He started off doing [Disney's] Even Stevens, and then he made the transition into doing big movies, and that’s what I want to do. After graduating from Disney, I want to do bigger things, and that’s what I’m trying to work towards.

JJJ: Which instruments can you play? Would you ever want to pursue a singing career?

DH: I play the guitar and drums, that’s it. A career in music is not for me - I’m sticking to acting. Maybe I would do a movie musical - those are great. I could probably hold a tune, I’m not going to shut myself out from that. I love Broadway, I would definitely want to do a Broadway play one day. I’ve seen Chicago and Mamma Mia!. My favorite was probably Jersey Boys.

JJJ: What’s a normal day filming Wizards?

DH: We have a 5-day schedule - it’s 3 days of rehearsal and 2 days of shooting. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday ,we rehearse. We get in at 9 in the morning and we finish at 3. Then on Monday we pre-shoot the technical scenes — the ones that involve green screen or any special effects — and then on Tuesday we shoot in front of the audience.

JJJ: Do you have a fave prop on set?

DH: I do! You’ll catch me doing things in the background while filming. I like to do things so that when I watch Wizards, I’ll laugh - like little distractions. If you watch an episode and I’m not saying anything in the scene, chances are I’ll be in the background with these two props on set that are two fish. They’re the most random things in the world on our set, but I’ll probably be holding the fish doing something completely random, like, having them in an argument with each other.

    Exclusive: David Henrie Interview

The young and talented David Henrie has recurring roles on Wizards of Waverly Place, playing opposite Disney starlet Selena Gomez, and alongside the hysterical Neil Patrick Harris in the CBS hit show How I Met Your Mother.

Life is great for the nineteen year old actor who is currently filming Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie in sunny Puerto Rico and his Disney Channel Original movie Dadnapped with whom he stars opposite Hannah Montana star Emily Osment, set to premiere this year.

Adam Brody did it in The O.C., Zachary Levi does it each week in Chuck, and David Henrie does it in Wizards of Waverly Place.  We are talking about the geek-chic trend that draws us to the nerdy, lovable characters.

David plays Justin Russo, the sensible, reliable sibling who never misuses his powers unlike his sister, Alex Russo, played by Selena Gomez.   PopStar was able to talk with the confident and charming David Henrie in between meetings and only days before heading out to film Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie.

The polite and caring actor picks roles that are suited for him, allowing himself enough range by picking interesting roles that always keep fan guessing and never disappoint with his dazzling smile.  The family-oriented actor praises his brother for his amazing acting skills and looks forward to working with him in the future, loves his family, and recently vlogged portions of his Italian adventure.

David is a role model to all young children out there that are looking to follow their dream.  David Henrie is the full package, and PopStar had the privilege to interview the talented actor about his upcoming movie roles, his new website, and his favorite movie of 2009.

    David Henrie Interview

PopStar:  Where you calling from today, David?
David Henrie I am driving home from a meeting in Studio City, California.

PopStar:  You star in the hottest Disney Channel Show, Wizards of Waverly Place; can you explain your character Justin through your eyes?
David Henrie I think with the trend nowadays in society is the kids who are driven, the kids who know where they are going, the ones with personality and that are very Adrian Brody esq; are what is cool these days.  Justin totally represents that, he knows where he is going in life, he knows what his future is, and he's comfortable with it.

PopStar: Only one sibling on the Russo house gets to keep their magical powers.  Do you think that Justin deserves to keep his powers over his siblings in Wizards of Waverly Place?
David Henrie: I think so!  He definitely does more than anyone else.

PopStar:  If you had one last spell to cast what would it be?
David Henrie The one that is most useful "Macreary TimeReary" spell.  It is when you take time back and redo a mistake.  I think that would be the most useful in life.

PopStar:  You and Hannah Montana star Emily Osment will be staring in the upcoming Disney Channel film, Dadnapped.  Tell us about your character, Wheeze.
David Henrie:  He's a skateboarder kid who is a fan of this James Bond type book.  So he re-enacts one of the plots in the book to prove to the author that he is a loyal fan.   He ends up kidnapping the author who is Emily Osment's father and he is kidnapped from me and Emily and I end up having to get her father back from the bad guys.

PopStar:  You play Ted Mosby's future son in the CBS hit How I Met Your Mother.  Do you enjoy that role?
David Henrie Yeah, that is a lot of fun.  It is good to work with those people.  They are all very productive and hard working people.

PopStar:  So you got to tell us; do you know who the mother is?
David Henrie I do but I would have to die if I said something.

PopStar:  You have played a bunch of different actors throughout the years.  Which would you say are the least and most like you?
David Henrie I definitely would be the least like the character I played in Cold Case.  I played a 15 year old boy who killed a little girl.  I am probably least like him.  I am probably most like, well, I have played so many characters, I pull a part of myself out for all of them.

PopStar:  You and your friends are in the process of putting up an interactive website.  Can you give us any details?
David Henrie:  It is not up yet.  We partnered with Ning and they are designing the site right know and it should premiere in two months.  It's like SNL type sketches that I will write and direct.

PopStar:  We have read that you are an avid movie buff.  What is the best movie you have seen this month?
David Henrie Slumdog Millionaire.  It was amazing.

PopStar:  You are heading down to Puerto Rico to begin filming Wizards of Waverly Place.  What are you most excited for in Puerto Rico?
David Henrie I am excited just to go down there and go to a different part of the world, a place I have not experienced before.   So it will be a lot of fun to take in the culture.

PopStar: Your brother, Lorenzo Henrie, is also an actor.  Would you ever like to work with him in the future?
David Henrie:  Of course!  He is such a stud.  He is my best friend; he is going to be the next big star in the world.

PopStar:  Do you have a website?
    David Henrie:  I have DavidHenrie.com.

PopStar:  Do you have a message for all your amazing fans?
David Henrie:  Thank you for watching and I really appreciate the support.  Continue to support and watch me and I will keep entertaining you.

Make sure to check out David Henrie every week as he tackles the role of Justin Russo on the Disney Channel hit, Wizards of Waverly Place.

Friday night: He loves going to a movie with friends and then to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner (his favorite dish is Chinese Chicken Salad). Too long a line? His second choice is PF Changs. If the wait there is too long, then he settles on Fuddruckers.

Saturday is the same group from the night before, hanging out at Zuma Beach with a football or soccer ball. Later he may shop at the Beverly Center or on Melrose. Dinner is sushi in Studio City.

If he has relatives in town, he’ll take them to Universal Studios on Sunday. On the way home, they’ll stop by Menchie’s for frozen yogurt.  “It’s got more flavors than Pinkberry!”
